Youth Program & Outreach Specialist
Classification: Non-Exempt (Full-time / Permanent)
Reports to: Associate Director
Position Summary: The Community Education and Program Specialist will act as a key connector between ARC, partner organizations and the community. The primary responsibility of this position is to implement ARC’s programming into the community. The Community Education and Program Coordinator will also coordinate community programming including but not limited to: identifying community needs, assisting in developing programming, data gathering, and other tasks as needed. This position will work in consultation with the Prevention Team, ARC management and the Executive Director. The distribution of coordination activities compared to direct service will vary based on the agency’s needs at any given time.
Essential Functions:
Work closely with ARC management to develop and implement a comprehensive annual outreach and strategic plan.
Work collaboratively with management to develop and foster strategic community relationships.
Help address substance & mental health concerns/conditions in the community.
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and coordinate community programming.
Provide direct service within programs, as required/needed.
Prepare and submit reports as requested and provide program outcomes for fund development.
Provide educational presentations as a representative of ARC through prevention programming.
Attend and participate in community committee meetings, work groups, etc. as assigned. (occasional weekends required)
Complete special projects as assigned by ARC management and the Executive Director.
Research and recommend new programs and services for the agency.
Learn community resources and have the ability to recommend additional services to community members.
Complete additional / relevant training and/or certification.
Maintain HIPPA compliance.
Complete all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associates degree in Human Services, Health Education, Public Health or closely related area is desired. Certification as a Recovery Coach, Peer Specialist or Prevention Specialist is a plus.
In addition, this position must have the:
Ability to provide concise, accurate written and verbal reports to management.
Ability to work cooperatively with the Executive Director and ARC management regarding scheduling and work assignments.
Ability to prepare program evaluations, interpret findings and determine their impact on programming and service provision.
Ability to implement programming including but not limited to classroom instruction and public speaking.
Ability to acquire knowledge of internal agency policies/procedures and ability to work as part of a staff in regard to such standards as necessary
Ability to provide information, referral and intervention services related to substance use disorder resources within the community.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to travel around the United States via airplane or driving. Must have a valid driver's license and hold car insurance.
Ability to work in a diverse environment in regards to race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation and gender.
